Caprioska Cocktail: A simple Brazilian cocktail that is a perfect way to start an evening in.

Caprioska_History: A Caprioska is a much more accessible alternative to a Caipirinha, a cocktail that uses the sometimes-hard-to-find Brazilian alcohol, cachaça. Popular in South America, the Caprioska is refreshing and uses ingredients that any guy can find – and the prepared ones will have on hand anyway.

We love this drink and think you will too. Careful though – they go down ridiculously easy.

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 1/4 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • Crushed ice

  1. Place several handfuls of ice into a tea towel, wrap it, then beat the hell out of it with your mallet (or something heavy) to crush the ice
  2. Fill the tumblers to the top with the crushed, then add the remaining ice to the shaker, along with the vodka, lime juice and simple syrup
  3. Put the lid on the shaker and shake well
  4. Strain over ice in tumblers
  5. Drop a lime wedge on top and serve

* If you don’t have a mallet, use anything heavy. We used a muddler, but a rolling pin, wooden spoon or the bottom of frying pan would have also sufficed.

* Use your discretion with the lime/sugar. Some women prefer a sweeter cocktail, in which case add a bit more simple syrup. Find out what she likes then make it to order.

* We HIGHLY recommend crushed ice for this one, so do your best not to skip it. Cubes will make this cocktail boring and bland.
